The Basic Course is designed to meet the Utah state requirements for a Basic Aesthetician’s license.  The course spans 17 weeks and is divided evenly between theory hours and practice hours.  Students are introduced to aesthetics and study the anatomy of the skin, nutrition, facial features and anatomy, diseases and disorders, basic electricity, exfoliations, pharmacology and holistic or alternative skin care.  At the end of the course, students should be prepared for the Utah Basic Aesthetician licensing exam and for the practice of basic aesthetics, which includes providing cosmetic skin-care procedures such as cleansing, manipulation, waxing, natural nail manicures or pedicures, limited chemical exfoliation, the use of high-frequency or galvanic equipment, and applying oils, antiseptics, clays or masks.
