Students begin at an intermediate aesthetics level and study aging skin, microdermabrasion, chemical exfoliation, acne, lymphatic massage, photo-therapy, body wrapping, product chemistry, plastic and reconstructive surgery, hyperpigmentation, ethnic skin, and other clinical treatments. At the end of the course, students should be prepared for the Utah Master Aesthetician licensing exam and for the practice of Master Aesthetics, which includes providing cosmetic skin-care procedures such as advanced pedicures and manicures with peeling agents, chemical facial treatments, advanced body treatments, microdermabrasion, body lymphatic drainage, body waxing, and teeth whitening. Master Aestheticians may also provide skin-care treatments for non-cosmetic purposes when supervised by a licensed health care practitioner acting within the scope of his or her license.
