Student FAQ
What are some things to look for in a school?
Look for a school who has been through, or is currently going through the accreditation process. Ask about types of equipment you will be trained on, instructor credentials, job placement rates and graduation requirements. A school who is proud of what they have to offer will be able to quickly and honestly answer those questions.
The most important part of having a future in the beauty and wellness industry is clearly having the ability to communicate and sell yourself and your services to your clients. Does the school offer business and career development classes in addition to the basic curriculum? Are there elective classes?
Is Acaydia an accredited school?
Yes. Acaydia is nationally accredited by NACCAS. (National Accrediting Commission for Cosmetology Arts and Sciences)
Do I need to have an outgoing personality to become an aesthetician or makeup artist?
The industry attracts many types of personalities. It requires all types, so you shouldn’t feel limited. It does take creativity and courage. Be prepared to be critiqued and to strengthen your “business muscle”, which will ultimately make you a strong practitioner.
Do you have an information packet you could mail to me?
Yes. You may request a school catalogue by emailing info@acaydia.com, or by calling the school directly at (801) 377 0025. The catalogue includes everything you need to know regarding start dates, class outlines, tuition rates, etc. If you choose to email a request, don’t forget to include your name, address and phone number.
How do I set up a tour of the facility?
Please request a formal tour by calling the facility directly (801) 377 1908, or by emailing info@acaydia.com. If you would like to casually walk through the school, feel free to do so during business hours. Formal tours are encouraged. This allows for answers to questions and the ability to see students and staff in action.
Why must I apply for the program?
After a complete application is recieved, Acaydia accepts students by invitation only. Acaydia believes it can better serve it’s candidates by selecting those who show passion and determination for their future as a practitioner. This allows our instructors to do what they do best, and that is to instruct and inspire-not babysit! Upon acceptance into one of our programs, you’ll be impressed at who you are surrounded by and the forever friendships and networking alliances you will form.
What is the exact process for applying?
Step 1: Download the application. Fill out in its entirety. Don’t forget to include two letters of recommendation, a personal statement explaining why you believe you are a good candidate for the program, or an important event in your life, proof of education (either a High School Diploma or College/University transcripts) and a $50 application fee. (See admissions if you do not meet the above mentioned education criteria)
Step 2: Mail or hand deliver your application to 86 North University Avenue Suite 130 Provo, UT 84601, Attention: Admissions.
Step 3: Wait to receive a phone call from an Admissions Advisor. (Usually 1-2 business days). If you do not receive a phone call, please call the admissions office after 10 business days (801) 377 1908.
Step 4: An interview (either phone or personal) will be set up at a mutually convenient time.
Step 5: Wait to receive a letter from the school. The letter will state one of three things. 1) Acceptance to the program, 2) Acceptance with condition (ie: start date change, time change, still need documentation, etc.), or 3) Non-acceptance.
Step 6: If an acceptance letter is received, you will receive step by step information on how to complete the enrollment process.
Do you offer student loans?
Yes. Acaydia recommends applying for a vocational loan through Mountain America Credit Union. The loan is specifically for vocational programs and is interest-only while you are in school and for six months after you graduate. We see most of our applicants choose this method of payment. You may also apply for Federal Student Loans, however, at this time Acaydia does not participate in government grant programs.
For other payment options, please call the admissions office directly. (801) 377 1908
